Forensic Medicine & Coroners Court Complex

Lidcombe, New South Wales

The Forensic Medicine & Coroners Court Complex in Lidcombe modernizes forensic medicine and coronial services to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and community support. This state-of-the-art facility ensures a seamless working relationship between NSW Health Pathology and the NSW Coroner’s Court, enabling a more responsive and compassionate approach to investigations.

Designed with families in mind, the facility provides expanded waiting areas to offer comfort during difficult times, while two additional coronial courts improve accessibility and efficiency. Staff benefit from contemporary workspaces, advanced technology, and natural light-filled environments that support well-being and productivity.

By integrating modern forensic medicine practices with a purpose-built court complex, the project strengthens the delivery of vital public services. A collaborative effort led by NSW Health Infrastructure, with Studio STH as Principal Consultant and COX Architecture, the design prioritises operational excellence, public engagement, and staff support.

Recognised for its innovation and thoughtful design, the complex won the Master Builders Association NSW Award for Excellence in Construction (Health Buildings, $50-$100M).

This project exemplifies innovative design and inter-agency collaboration, as noted by Dr. Isabel Brouwer, Clinical Director at NSW Health Pathology, who praised the team for delivering a leading-edge and bespoke facility fostering efficiency, comfort, and innovation.
