St John of God Richmond Hospital
Richmond, New South Wales
The St John of God Richmond Hospital is a private mental health hospital northwest of Sydney, first established in 1953. The existing facility consisted of a variety of buildings of varying ages that had been expanded and developed over time, including the historically significant Belmont House, built in 1892.
Studio STH were appointed as lead consultant for this redevelopment of the hospital to create a new benchmark in mental health care.

Residents have the opportunity to gather in shared spaces, such as the dining areas, café, and alfresco spaces, fostering social connections and reducing feelings of isolation often experienced by patients. The wellness centre offers an indoor swimming pool, gym, and yoga suite, encouraging residents to prioritise their physical and mental well-being.

The redevelopment’s holistic approach combines comprehensive support systems with a nurturing environment to equip residents with the resilience, confidence, and skills necessary to thrive in their communities.
