Wantirna Residential Aged Care Masterplan

The Wantirna Health Precinct is a 9.5 hectare site located in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs. The project was a collaboration of urban design, clinical planning and healthcare expertise looking to drive innovation for the precinct.

Working collaboratively with the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) and Eastern Health, Studio STH developed a masterplan that blended health care with a diverse and sustainable new community neighbourhood, to create a new place of civic importance and a new, integrated model for a health precinct.
The built environment was designed to optimise physical and mental wellbeing through access to natural light, fresh air and views, capitalising on Wantirna’s unique topography and dramatic landscape.

Creating clear and aspirational urban design guidelines as the drivers behind the masterplan, we were able to assess masterplan iterations against their ability to achieve the project goals, providing clarity and transparency for the client and stakeholders.
