Epworth Freemasons – Grey Street Cancer Centre,
The Epworth Freemasons redevelopment of the historic Clarendon Street site involves the construction of the new Grey Street Cancer Centre and the first stage of the Albert Street development, consisting of an 8-level Basement Carpark, new Loading Docks and Back-of-House space. An impressive new Hospital Main Entry on Albert Street features natural materials and finishes, such as timber ceiling and stone Reception. Daylight and external views are maximised throughout the facility.
The Grey St Cancer Centre includes a light filled 20-place day oncology unit, with the chairs are arranged around the southern perimeter of the building to take advantage of the views and daylight. Three Theatres, One Minor Procedure, Eight Stage 1 Recovery Bays, Education and Simulation Centre, Clinical Trials Space and 12-bedroom expansion to connect into the existing facility on all levels, and new main entry to the existing Radiation Oncology. Specialist Consulting Suites will also occupy the upper floorplates with extensive views across Melbourne.
The overall interior vision was to embody hotel like finishes whilst reflecting current best practice by providing a nurturing and healing environment, taking into account not only the physical treatment of patients, but also their general physical and mental wellbeing and comfort.
