Epworth Hospital Clinical Education & Simulation Centre, Richmond, VIC
The Epworth Hospital Richmond project involves the major redevelopment of an existing hospital including both new buildings and major refurbishment works of 96,000 sqm of Gross Building Area at an estimated construction cost of $700M.
The new hospital will include a purpose-built Clinical Education & Simulation Centre, designed to provide dedicated clinical skills and simulation facilities for students and staff to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge. Built atop the existing Cato Wing building, the entire floor has been designed to provide a state-of-the-art learning centre on the Epworth Richmond campus.
The centre includes eight Tutorial rooms, Clinical Skills Laboratory, a fully equipped Simulated Operating Theatre, simulated Single Bedroom with Ensuite and a Multipurpose 4 Bed area. The centre has full audio visual capability for live viewingof scenarios with the ability to play back for debriefing. Equipment includes high fidelity mannequins that have the ability to mimic critical medical events, respond to treatment and be verbally interactive with the participants.
There is also a large open Library space designed to support individual and different social learning styles, with print and online journals, books and a range of wider information services supplied by dedicated staff.
