Forensic Medicine and Coroner's Court Complex, Lidcombe, NSW
NSW Health Pathology’s forensic medicine service and the NSW Coroner’s Court will continue to meet the needs of NSW by modernising the delivery of services relating to coronial inquiry and forensic medicine, including family support services.
Forensic medicine is a specialised service involving the investigation into the cause of death in defined circumstances.
The proposed Lidcombe facility will foster greater efficiencies to ensure these services remain responsive to the needs of the community.
The facility will be designed and built to facilitate a modern and collaborative working relationship between the NSW Coroner’s Court and NSW Health Pathology forensic medicine services.
Key features of the new building include:
- A larger footprint than the existing site
- Better facilities for public coronial hearings, including 2 additional courts
- Improved public waiting areas to provide greater comfort to distressed people visiting the site
- Considerably improved amenities for staff performing these vital functions, including modern technology and practices
- A modern, functional design to accommodate contemporary work principles and family support services
This project is a joint NSW Health and NSW Justice project, with Health Infrastructure taking the lead delivery role.
STH as principal consultant have collaborated with their sub consultant, COX Architecture on this project.
