Jurong General Hospital, Jurong, Singapore

Silver Thomas Hanley in association with Architects Team 3 Pte, Singapore undertook a design completion for the creation of a 700 bed tertiary hospital and a 200 bed community hospital medical precinct for Singapore Health. The site was located at Jurong, Singapore.

The focus of the brief was to deliver a “state of the art” medical precinct that was to be operationally efficient and cost effective, with flexibility for future expansion. With the modern and unique design, the result integrated a connection bridge linking the community hospital to the tertiary, regional hospital. The facilities included medical, surgical, rehabilitation and obstetric and paediatric inpatient units, intensive care units, associated clinical support areas such as operating suit, emergency department, specialist outpatient and ambulatory care units and diagnostic and treatment areas.

The naturally ventilated floor plates were designed to provide an energy efficient facility and the landscape spaces throughput provided for a positive attitude to healing.
