Macksville Hospital Development, Macksville, NSW
Silver Thomas Hanley was commissioned at Design Development to review and develop a new two storey Hospital for Macksville. Located on a Greenfield site just outside of town, the Macksville Hospital will be designed to meet the unique local health challenges including chronic illness and the complex health needs of its significant aged and Aboriginal populations.
The scale and appearance of the building has been designed to consider the local context and low-density rural attributes. A natural colour palette with connections to the earth and local fauna has been used externally and internally, with accents of blue to connect to the Nambucca River. A double height glazed hospital street façade and large windows to patient rooms reinforces the connection to the surrounding landscape.
The hospital will enhance patient care, whilst also improving Ambulatory care and outpatient treatments. Clinical Services will include: a new Emergency Department, new Inpatient Units, new Operating Theatre and Procedure room, new Maternity Services and enhanced Community and Allied Health facilities.
This project is being delivered in partnership with NSW Health Infrastructure and Mid North Coast Local Health District.
