Regis Nedlands, Nedlands, WA

Nedlands Stage 1 replaced an existing Park Lodge nursing home with a contemporary purpose built ageing in place residential building, at ease in its environment. The building sits comfortably on a large residential site with the north facing Monash Avenue façade articulated through the use of projecting balconies framed in a modular proportion to reflect a residential scale.

Materials were selected to blend with the street scape and provide colour and texture to enhance the design quality. The new building addresses the street with expansive windows and balconies which flood the rooms with natural light and provide stunning views to the Swan River, Kings Park and Perth City. The building is surrounded by extensive landscaping with trees and shrubs providing a tranquil environment for residents, visitors and staff.

Incorporating 141 rooms including dementia-specific, palliative and respite care, the facility provides a high quality environment to enhance the level of care and support to its residents. Each of the levels incorporate north facing large open plan communal living and dining areas, activity rooms and quiet sitting areas with access to large sun-drenched balconies. The roof top lounge and café are part of the lifestyle precinct incorporating Cinema, Library, Day Spa, Hairdresser and Private Dining rooms, leading out to external landscaped gardens, enhancing provision of a very high level of accommodation.

Each level of accommodation incorporates nursing and staff zones providing  care and support, with a centralised kitchen located at the basement level and linked to serveries on each level.
