Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, NSW

As part of the Royal North Shore Hospital redevelopment, Silver Thomas Hanley was engaged by Health Infrastructure to provide architectural services for the proposed new Clinical Services Building (CSB). The CSB was designed to house key clinical services, currently provided in a remote location from the Acute Services Building currently under construction. The CSB will house a new Burns unit with a dedicated Operating Room and associated outpatient clinics. The CSB will also house an extensive Women’s and Children’s service including a Paediatric inpatient unit, Paediatric outpatient services, a 9 bed birthing suite with dedicated operation room, a 40 bed maternity unit, a neonatal intensive care unit with 14 cots and a comprehensive range of outpatient services.

The location of the new CSB was carefully considered in order to address issues of clinical risk while also providing convenient access for the growing population in this north shore precinct. A series of links to other campus buildings will make this building a central hub of the Royal North Shore Campus.

Silver Thomas Hanley’s concept focused on delivering long term value through designing a durable, low maintenance structure, providing for future expansion and allows for adaptability in both future technology and patient demands.
