St. John of God Day Oncology Centre, Berwick, VIC

Silver Thomas Hanley was engaged in July 2013 by St John of God Berwick Hospital to provide Principal Consultancy services for the tenancy fit out development of a Day Oncology Unit within the Casey Specialist Medical Centre project which STH had designed for Generation Healthcare.

The new SJOG Day Oncology Centre is expected to provide significant community benefit to the wider Berwick area, helping to reduce patient travel distances to receive vital specialist cancer treatment. The centre is a 12 Chair Day Oncology Treatment and Consulting facility with 5 consulting rooms, reception and patient waiting area, family interview room and a wellness centre. Floor plans were designed to allow for future expansion capabilities with additional space provided for up to 20 chairs.

Interior elements were designed to create a calming and tranquil atmosphere for patients undergoing cancer treatments, with native floral furniture patterns, wood features and calming colour pallett. Large windows offer abundant natural light and views of the surrounding local Berwick parklands.

The Day Oncology Centre is also designed to link up with 2 other tenancies within the Medical Centre, MIA Radiology and GenesisCare Radiotherapy, providing an integrated Cancer Care centre. The facility opened its doors on February 18, 2015.
