The Royal Prince Alfred Training and Research Facility, Camperdown, NSW
The main auditorium on the RPAH site is the Kerry Packer Auditorium. Housing 234 seats, including 3 wheelchair spaces, it provides state of the art audio visual componentry, including a sophisticated acoustic bio box with twin projectors, double projector screens, retractable glass partition and specialist lighting and auditory systems.
The facility provides educational services to staff and visitors to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Education Centre of both clinical and non-clinical disciplines. The professional development of all staff is a major task of the centre which will be responsible for graduate, undergraduate and post graduate studies in medicine, nursing, allied health, administration, mental health and community services.
The 7,500 m2 of laboratories at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital was the mainstay of the Stage Two works on site. The project comprised of Pharmacy, Pathology, Blood Bank, Immunology, Haematology, Molecular Biology, Special Diagnostics and Microbiology Departments. The laboratories were an integral component of the hospital’s ability to provide first class health treatment in NSW. The laboratories were partly built within the historic Victoria Pavilion, while the majority were housed in the new building located between the Victoria Pavilion and the 1970’s E-Block structure, still enabling the existing hospital to fully function without any major disruptions.
