Women’s & Children’s Hospital Upgrade, Adelaide, SA

STH have commenced works on the $50 million upgrade of the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide. The upgrade will allow SA Health to continue providing the highest quality of care while planning continues for a brand-new hospital to be established on the site adjacent to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The upgrades will address high priority clinical and infrastructure requirements in four key areas, enabling the delivery of high quality and safe services to patients and their families.

  • The Boylan Ward redevelopment will create a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Unit with an outdoor space and a high dependency area.
  • The Neonatal Nursery redevelopment will expand the treatment spaces providing better access for families and staff.
  • The Paediatric Emergency Department redevelopment will have an improved triage area, dedicated mental health assessment spaces and three multi-purpose consultation spaces.
  • The Operating Theatre refurbishment will keep the department in its current location whilst creating a friendlier atmosphere for staff, patients and families.
