Health City Springfield Master Plan

Springfield, Queensland

The site, already home to the Mater Hospital and Aveo seniors’ accommodation, will be fully integrated with the Master Plan encompassing education and research facilities, a 2,500 apartment aged-care facility, business facilities along with residential and retail offerings across the 52-hectare site. Greater Springfield has transitioned from a completely undeveloped site in 1992 to a residential population of 36,000 with estimates 150,000 will call Springfield home by 2035.

Studio STH produced a comprehensive Master Plan providing a long-term vision that integrates, activates and connects the greater Springfield community to support a healthy lifestyle. The resulting solution is a multifaceted Urban & Landscape Design incorporating innovative transport and pedestrian linkages, landscaped green zones and gardens for greater connectivity and sense of place.
The strength of the Master Plan arises from the innovative connectivity links that were proposed in order to integrate the Mater Hospital and the Aveo Residential Care facility with a range of complimentary uses including the nearby transport hub at Springfield Central Railway Station, Teaching Training and Research supported by the University of Queensland, retail, education sports and recreation as well as an Idea City.
